Max left us this morning, October 3, 2005 at 10:00AM, with the aid of Dr. Craig Spence, DVM, at the Bartlesville Animal Hospital. Max was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma in August and he fought a brave, and valiant fight. He told us this morning it was time, and we honored him by giving him that one last, best gift - the Gift of Peace. He died peacefully in our arms..

MaxI'm Max, and I'm the Boss....

(Contrary to what Reggie Thinks...)

I came to live here in July, 2001, under rather "mysterious" circumstances. Mom and Dad decided to keep me the 6th time Dad found me wandering a busy highway in search of that elusive scent I never could seem to find. When Dad spoke "Basset" to me, how could I resist not coming home with him? I mean... we spoke the same language!

Actually, I figured anyone who would stand in a group of people and holler "AROO-ROO-ROO!" was good folks and deserved me, and that's exactly what Dad did to get my attention. Boy, did he ever get it! I came home with him that day and never looked back. I'm pretty much the boss here too, and that's the way I like it. I'm also spoiled rotten, which is Mom's fault. I like it that way, too.

Mom tucks me in every night.

Here I am with her very special Oklahoma University blankie that she lets me use sometimes - only on special occasions, though, like when OU beats OSU, or better still, TEXAS!!!

Note: I *always* use a pillow.

Here I am doing some of my favorite things:

Napping

Playing Tuggie with Reggie...

Wearing My New Sweater...

More Napping...

Napping Again.....

(Note the Pillow-of course!)

Looking Good...

<VERY Good, naturally>

Sneaking off with Sarah's Food Dish...

Casual Dressing in My Sweatshirt

The down fall to living here is, I have chores to do, like..

Babysitting Phil the Cat...

Taking My Dish Back to the Kitchen...

Testing the New Beds
(as *if* I'm really gonna sleep on one!)

Having to Share My Pillow with Reggie

And When I've Had Enough,

I can always hide.
